Der Name ´Doctor Bird´ stammt von einem bekannten Ska-Label für jamaikanische Musik.

Kurz zu DOCTOR BIRD a.k.a. DJ Vogel:

-         Ska/Reggae/Soul-Redakteur des ´Slam-Zine´ - einziges Musikmagazin aus Österreich.

-         Jahre lange Mitarbeit bei ´Der Wahrschauer´ (Berlin), ´Ox´ (Nordrhein-Westfalen), ´unclesallys*magazine´ (Berlin).

-         absolvierte als Solo-DJ mehrere Tourneen durch Deutschland, Dänemark, Holland und Österreich.

-         Auftritte deutschlandweit u.a. in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Leipzig, Dresden, Dortmund, Magdeburg, Bochum, Rostock...

-         Speziell in Berlin Auftritte in allen bekannten Clubs: SO 36, Kesselhaus, Insel, Sage, Magnet, Knaack u.v.a.

A long time before Mister Vogel from Berlin starts to work as a professional DJ he made himself a name in the Ska – scene as a free music - journalist for many different magazines and newspapers. He worked for the monthly four-coloured music magazine  “Uncle Sallys”, the biggest german fanzine “OX”, the only music magazine from Austria “Slam-Magazine” and the local fanzine “the Wahrschauer”.
Then it was time for him to get new challenges. To do more than writing articles from the other side of view. To go out and mix with the people.

First he built a Ska music portal under www.flyingska.de. This page is already famous in the scene and has regular visitors all around Germany.  Mister Vogel starts to organize Ska - partys in a club in Berlin called the “Thommy-Weissbecker-House”. Each of this concerts became big, legendary nights with a huge number of regular visitors. The house was completely overcrowded – all the people there had so much fun. Mister Vogel turned into the best local DJ and organizer for Ska – music – events.  He started to support young  talented DJ’s and bands and gave them support and advise. In the great public he has a big name recognition – because of his articles about the Ska & Reggae – scene in one of the biggest newspapers “Berliner Morgenpost”, in the city magazine “Prinz“ or the tabloid “Berliner Kurier“. He’s known as an absolutely Ska – expert in Germany & Austria and already gave an interview for the Tip – magazine of Berlin, which has a really big circulation. He gave his local scene a fresh impetus and is one of the leaders from the offbeat community.

Now it’s time for Doctor Bird to bring his music all around the land. He will show you the Ska – history from over 50 years. He’ll make you crazy skanking, dancing & shaking. Doctor Bird already put his records on at many events & concerts & skanighters in Berlin, in Copenhagen, Hamburg, Hannover, Munich, Düsseldorf, the Netherlands, Magdeburg, Dresden, Vienna, Leipzig, Switzerland or Cologne. He’ll try to keep you smiling, dancing and shaking through the room.
